Frequently asked questions
How do you ship live plants safely?
We take extraordinary care in packaging our plants to ensure they arrive at your doorstep healthy and stress-free. Every plant is secured to prevent shifting during transit, and we use protective materials to minimize the chance of physical damage.
We may also place order on brief holds if the weather on route is extreme. Additionally we have Winter Shipping Protection available to purchase during cold months that adds insulation and a heat pack, when needed, to the box.
Can I see the exact plant I am purchasing?
Yes! We specialize in W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. (What You See Is What You Get) listings for our rare and exceptional specimens. For these items, the photos in the product description show the exact plant that will be packaged and shipped to you. Each W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. listing will be clearly marked as an exact plant listing in its title and description. Shop the collection here.
What should I do when my order arrives?
Firstly, open the box ASAP to give your new plant(s) access to fresh air and light. Next, simply place it in a spot with bright, indirect light and check the moisture level of the substrate. Give it a gentle watering if dry. Allow a few days for the plant(s) to acclimate to your home's humidity and light levels before repotting or placing it in intense light. It is completely normal for a plant to experience minor shipping stress, such as a dropped leaf or slight drooping.
When will my order ship?
To ensure your plants spend the absolute least amount of time in transit and never get stuck in a shipping warehouse over the weekend, we only ship orders on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Orders placed Wednesday through Sunday will ship the following Monday or Tuesday.
Orders placed Monday or Tuesday may ship the same week or the following week depending on processing times and current order volume.
Once your order is carefully packed and hands off to the carrier, you will receive a tracking number via email so you can follow its journey to your doorstep.
Help! My clear pot started growing green algae. What do I do and is it harmful to my plants?
Don't panic! Seeing a bit of green algae inside a clear pot is completely natural and 100% harmless to your plant. Because our Clearly Rooted™ pots allow light to reach the substrate (so you can easily monitor root health and moisture levels), they also create the perfect environment for harmless surface algae to develop when combined with water and nutrients. It will not steal nutrients from your plant or damage the roots.
If you prefer to clear it up for aesthetic reasons, it's very easy to manage:
Block the light: Simply slide the clear nursery pot into an opaque decorative cover pot (cachepot). Without light, the algae will naturally disappear on its own.
Wipe it away: During your next routine watering, use a damp cloth to wipe the inside edge of the plastic.
Ultimately, a little green just means your environment is bright and humid—exactly what your tropical plants need to thrive!
